Jeremy Best, the dad who was found naked next to his missing 10-month-old son, who was later found dead, has confessed to killing the baby as well as his wife, who was pregnant with the couple’s second child at the time of her death. Back in 2023, when the murders were committed, Jeremy Best’s legal team, including attorney Jim Archibald, claimed that he was experiencing a mental breakdown that led to the killings.
As a result of his confession and a plea agreement, Jeremy Best is now looking at a lifetime in prison after confessing, but he will avoid facing the death penalty.

On February 13, 2025, 50-year-old Jeremy Best pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of his infant son Zeke Best, and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of his wife Kali Randall Best, and their unborn child Freya, prosecuting attorney for Teton and Bonneville counties wrote in a statement reported by People.
KIFI reported that the plea agreement was reached as a result of felony mediation. The mediation included the family of Kali Randall Best, on behalf of her and her children. The plea agreement came after the Teton County prosecuting attorney, Bailey Smith, filed notice that the state was seeking the death penalty.
On the night of November 30, 2023, Kali Randall Best was found unresponsive at the couple’s home in Victor, Idaho. In the probable cause affidavit People obtained, a woman on the 911 call says, “Jeremy, no, Jeremy no.” A man replies, “Get the f— back, you’re going to get shot,” and “I love you, love you, love you,” the affidavit stated.
Kali Randall Best was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later, authorities discovered 10-month-old Zeke was missing. Jeremy Best was named a suspect in both the killing and the kidnapping. Two days later, hunters found Jeremy Best in a sleeping bag and recognized him, calling 911. Police found his SUV down an embankment. They then found Zeke Best near his father with his throat slit.

Under the plea agreement, Jeremy Best will face life in prison. However, the prosecutors stated that both parties can still argue for other conditions to the sentence. Jeremy Best’s sentencing hearing date is July 23, 2025.
“With the guilty plea, we can finally start to move forward without the weight of court proceedings hanging over us. Nothing will ever bring them back, but knowing that accountability is being served, brings some sense of relief,” Kali Randall Best’s family said in a statement to KIFI.
“This has been a long and painful road and we’re beyond grateful for the love and support from our family, friends and the community. Now we can focus on what truly matters — honoring Kali, Zeke and Frey and remembering the joy they brought into our lives, and allowing ourselves the space to grieve.”
