JD Vance and Fox News’ Sean Hannity appeared to get a little hot under the collar when it came to Elon Musk’s AI bot Grok.
The Vice President followed in his boss, President Donald Trump’s footsteps and took part in a Fox News interview that aired on Hannity’s show on Thursday night. The 63-year-old host, who got engaged to his Fox News colleague Ainsley Earhardt last year, kicked off the chat by asking Vance, “Are you as obsessed with AI as I am?” to which the 41-year-old replied, “I am.”
Hannity then revealed, “Okay, I don’t know. I’m a Grok guy,” referring to the Tesla owner AI assistant, as Vance agreed, “Okay, me too. I’m a Grok guy.”
The pair then went into a frenzied back-and-forth over the AI tool, as Hannity reiterated, “You’re a Grok guy. Okay. Elon, I think it’s the best, ” Vance responds by gushing, “I think it’s the best. It’s also the least woke! I’m always asking myself, if I ask an AI a question, is it going to give me an objective answer, or is it going to give me a woke answer?”
Hannity then asked, “Have you put it in an extreme mode just for kicks and giggles? It’s a little… Well, if you want-,” as Vance eagerly interupped, “I have not, Sean. I don’t want the media to attack me,” as he burst into a fit of laughter
“If you want to know the neighborhood that Donald Trump grew up in and the kind of language you probably heard every day, you can put it in extreme mode. It’s pretty funny,” the Fox News star pointed out. To which the dad of three quipped, “I can tell it to talk like my grandmother, and then we’d be in good shape.”
A clip of the Grok segment was shared on X, prompting viewers to weigh in on the bizarre AI-themed conversation. One user blasted, “These two clowns are everything that is wrong and dark in America. Next!”

A second fan added, “Cute Sean and JD, real cute. Nice try at deflection but you failed bigly,” with a third suggesting, “Vance’s wokephobia is getting old. He really needs to make new enemies.”
“Least Woke = Needs More Fact Checking,” someone else said, with a fifth alleging, “Grok gives so much misinformation as an answer it’s insane. And then it takes multiple challenges before it acknowledges it was giving you bad info.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Vance claimed, “A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens.”
The VP was responding to a question regarding the affordability and availability of housing in the U.S., and alleged the issue was due to undocumented immigrants taking all the available housing.
