What started as a chilling mystery near Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island getaway has now come to a somber conclusion.
Authorities have confirmed that the human remains found just steps from Taylor Swift’s Watch Hill estate in May belong to Eric Wein, a 31-year-old man from Massachusetts. The case, which sparked intrigue and unease in one of Rhode Island’s most exclusive enclaves, has now been officially closed.
No Foul Play, But Plenty of Questions
Back on May 14, Westerly police discovered what was first believed to be “a human leg bone” along Everett Avenue. That’s just a short walk from Swift’s oceanfront mansion, known as Holiday House. The scene was described as surreal for residents of the usually serene coastal neighborhood.

“It kind of alarmed me,” one local, Taylor Day, told NBC10. “It was probably a couple football fields away from Taylor Swift’s house and the Ocean House. I would never expect anything like that, especially not in Watch Hill.”
For weeks, speculation swirled about the identity of the remains and the circumstances surrounding their appearance. Now, South Kingstown Police have confirmed that the remains belonged to Wein, who was last seen in April. His vehicle had been discovered in the area on April 10, and he was reported missing just over a week later.
According to police, no foul play is suspected. Officials extended their “deepest condolences to Mr. Wein’s family and loved ones.”
A Quiet Coastal Town with a Superstar Connection
Taylor Swift’s Watch Hill mansion, famously referenced in her song “The Last Great American Dynasty”, has long been a subject of fascination.

The $17.75 million property, perched above East Beach, has hosted some of Swift’s most iconic Fourth of July parties, with past guests including Gigi Hadid, Ed Sheeran, Bradley Cooper, and Selena Gomez.
But despite its celebrity buzz, the area is typically known for its peace, privacy, and picture-perfect charm, not tragic discoveries.
Swift has made no public comment on the incident, and there is no indication that she or her property were involved. Still, the story has added an unexpected and somber chapter to the lore surrounding her Rhode Island retreat.
