Julia’s face, devoid of makeup and clad in unremarkable attire, underwent a transformation as she filmed poignant scenes for August: Osage County in Bartsville, Oklahoma.
On set: Actress Julia Roberts and her co-star Ewan McGregor were engaged in filming their latest movie, August: Osage County, on Thursday.
Emotional performance: The brunette actress delivered a heart-wrenching performance.
The screen star, who in reality is a mother of three with her cinematographer husband Daniel Moder, wore a white shirt layered over a cream top, paired with loose-fitting blue jeans.
Her long brunette hair was not styled glamorously at all for her role as Barbara Weston, a character in a family that navigates their differences when their alcoholic patriarch goes missing.
During the gripping scene, Ewan held Julia’s hand with great anticipation as they approached a boat dock to identify a deceased body with the Sheriff.
Casual appearance: The Pretty Woman actress appeared quite dowdy while filming the intense scene where they had to identify a deceased body with the Sheriff.
Upon witnessing the dead body, Julia broke down in tears, seeking comfort from Ewan’s character, Bill Fordham, as she continued to weep in his embrace.
Although she portrayed a character in deep distress throughout the scene, moments later, between takes, Julia was seen laughing heartily.
The actress was joined by Julianne Nicholson, who seemed to be sharing something amusing with the group.
Not her typical appearance: She donned jeans and layered tops for her role as Barbara Weston.
The Boardwalk Empire star also dressed in a similarly dowdy manner, wearing a blue shirt and brown flared trousers, with her hair pulled back into a ponytail.
Other notable cast members in the 2013 film include Benedict Cumberbatch as ‘Little Charles Aiken’ and Meryl Streep as Violet Weston.
The IMBd page for the film indicates that Renée Zellweger and Andrea Riseborough were both considered for a particular role.
Riseborough was initially cast but withdrew because of scheduling conflicts. Juliette Lewis took over the role of Karen Weston.
Chloë Moretz auditioned for the character of Jean Fordham, but ultimately lost the part to Abigail Breslin.
All an act: The group seemed to find something quite amusing as they collaborated with Julianna Nicholson.
