During a recent interview, Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s border czar, remarked that the arrest of two judges charged with assisting and sheltering illegal immigrants should not come as a surprise to anyone.
The notification and alert were issued subsequent to the apprehension of Democratic judges in New Mexico and Wisconsin.
Judge Hannah Dugan of Milwaukee County, aged 65, was taken into custody on Friday morning and faces two felony charges for allegedly assisting an undocumented immigrant in avoiding apprehension.

The complaint specifically alleges that Dugan aided Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, in evading arrest by federal immigration authorities at the Milwaukee County Courthouse following his appearance in her courtroom for a pretrial conference on April 18. Flores-Ruiz is currently facing three misdemeanor charges of battery, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
According to the complaint, two federal agents ultimately pursued Flores-Ruiz outside the courthouse and detained him at the intersection of West State Street and North 10th Street in the downtown area.
The report further noted that FBI Director Kash Patel criticized the judge in a social media statement, declaring, ‘The FBI has just arrested Judge Hannah Dugan from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on obstruction charges, following evidence that she hindered an immigration arrest operation last week.’
It is our assertion that Judge Dugan deliberately misled federal agents regarding the individual to be apprehended in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, thereby enabling him—an undocumented immigrant—to avoid capture,” he stated.
In New Mexico, former Judge Joel Cano and his spouse were also taken into custody for allegedly sheltering an undocumented immigrant believed to be affiliated with the Venezuelan-based Tren de Arugua gang, which has been classified as a terrorist organization by Trump, alongside another gang, MS-13.
The Canos are further accused of supplying the undocumented migrant suspect with firearms, as indicated by photographs discovered in their possession.
In a social media statement, Homan remarked that judges are not exempt from the law, regardless of their personal opinions.
“Two judges’ arrests should not come as a shock. I have repeatedly stated in recent months that individuals may choose to support illegal immigration and refrain from aiding ICE in the removal of criminal undocumented immigrants from our communities, BUT DO NOT CROSS THAT LINE,” he expressed on X.
