This week, George Strait is mourning the loss of two cherished members of his musical circle.
On Wednesday, March 20, he took to Instagram to announce the heartbreaking news of his manager’s passing earlier that day. Their friendship spanned many years, and they had collaborated for approximately 45 years.
He expressed, “Erv Woolsey passed away this morning,” at that very moment. “He could not overcome the complications from a surgery. He fought bravely and was an incredibly strong man, but sadly, it was just too much. We will always cherish the moments we shared and will miss him deeply. It won’t be the same without him,” accompanied by a photograph of the two together.
Unbeknownst to him, another close friend was also facing a tragic loss. Mike Kennedy, Strait’s longtime drummer, had died in a car accident in 2018.
