Fox’s Peter Doocy on Joe Biden: ‘I Will Miss Him’

Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy expressed that he will miss President Joe Biden, despite their often confrontational dynamic. In an interview with New York Magazine on Wednesday, Doocy discussed his experience at the Democratic National Convention with media columnist and features writer Charlotte Klein.

“I believe people needed a platform to feel enthusiastic about something,” remarked Doocy, the son of Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy, referring to the convention after he provided updates to his network’s audience during Wednesday’s Special Report with Bret Baier. Klein noted the numerous contentious interactions between the Fox News reporter and Biden over the past four years, which had attracted significant attention. He then asked about Biden’s views on the Democratic convention.

Klein wrote:

This is the Fox News take on all this Dem joy: roll their eyes and wait for the sugar high to abate. “At some point they have to do more than just have fun music for every state and talk about who Kamala Harris and Doug are, and how much they miss the Clintons and the Obamas.” Speaking of, what did he think of the Obamas last night? “It was powerful,” “I’m surprised that now that everybody in the world has a platform to put stuff out on social media, nobody can speak like that.” For “two people who are essentially retired from politics, they had such a command of this crowd.”

We make our way onto the floor, pushing past the crowd, some of whom ask Doocy for a selfie–despite his being in a bubble other than the one he’s usually a star in. But whatever his politics, they still know him. “This particular crowd are probably, per capita, the highest consumers of White House briefings of anywhere I know in America.”

Upon reflecting on his recent, albeit brief, visit to Chicago, Klein inquired of Doocy whether he believed that Democrats had made a wise decision in selecting Vice President Kamala Harris to face former President Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

“Considering this week, I would say yes. However, during my previous visit for the Biden walkthrough, and from the familiarity I have developed with him over the past five years, I sensed that as he looked out at the crowd, he was contemplating whether he was making the right choice,” Doocy responded.

Doocy acknowledged that he would feel a sense of regret over his confrontations with Biden during interviews and briefings, particularly as he represented Fox News to many Americans from the White House.

“Yes, I truly will,” Doocy stated. “It didn’t take long for them to understand what to expect from me. They were aware that I would consistently pose challenging questions, and he continued to engage with me for years, as did his team… so yes, I will miss him.”

Klein further noted:

Doocy’s interactions with this administration have been sparky. One of his more memorable exchanges with the president came during the now infamous press conference that Biden gave following former special counsel Robert Hur’s report. “How bad is your memory and can you continue as president?” Doocy asked Biden. “My memory is so bad that I let you speak,” Biden responded. “I thought he had a quick-witted response to me, but ultimately that was the beginning of the end.”

The Biden-Harris administration’s Department of Homeland Security is currently facing a significant lawsuit that could compel the agency to address a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request concerning a task force set up in Pennsylvania to address purported “election threats.”

Pennsylvania’s Democratic Governor, Josh Shapiro, announced the establishment of the “Election Threats Task Force” in a press release dated February 29, asserting that it would deliver “trusted election information” and work to “mitigate threats” to the electoral process.

The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) has reported that the Department of Homeland Security has acknowledged its request for information regarding Pennsylvania’s partnership with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). However, court documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation indicate that CASA, a branch of DHS, has not received any documents or further communication since that acknowledgment.

CASA’s FOIA request was prompted by a March report from The Federalist, which disclosed that the Shapiro administration was working with CISA as part of the task force—a detail that was not clearly stated in Shapiro’s February 29 announcement.

“In March, the Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) submitted a FOIA request to DHS-CISA to obtain communications related to the formation of the Pennsylvania Election Task Force, which aims to regulate election-related discourse that it considers ‘misinformation.’ CISA has yet to respond to CASA’s request,” stated CASA Director James Fitzpatrick in an interview with the news outlet.
