Walmart is closing a batch of stores in 2025

Walmart will be shutting down 22 retail stores throughout the United States this year, which includes four locations in Chicago, as a result of unsatisfactory financial results. The company has officially announced the closure of its Brook Road Neighborhood Market in Richmond, Virginia, effective July 28.

Felicia McCranie, a spokesperson for Walmart, conveyed appreciation to customers for their continued support.

These closures are a component of Walmart’s strategy to optimize operations and concentrate on more lucrative sectors, in response to a wider retail trend of adapting to evolving consumer behaviors, especially the increase in online shopping.

Although the closures may affect employment and convenience for local communities, Walmart persists in growing its e-commerce operations and assures customers that both nearby stores and online services will continue to be accessible.
