Miranda Lambert sparked controversy during her residency in Las Vegas when she confronted a fan for taking a selfie while she performed “Tin Man.” She interrupted her performance to urge the fan to cease taking pictures and to concentrate on the music, voicing her annoyance that the audience seemed more engaged in capturing selfies than enjoying the song.
While a portion of the audience supported her position, others condemned her for shaming a paying customer. Subsequently, Lambert made a remark regarding another fan’s t-shirt that stated, “Shoot tequila, not selfies,” which some interpreted as an additional critique.
