Michelle Obama’s Podcast Remark About Being ‘Single’ Turns Heads

During a recent episode of her podcast, former First Lady Michelle Obama made a lighthearted comment about being single, which has reignited speculation regarding a potential strain in her marriage to former President Barack Obama.

In the latest episode of her show, IMO [In My Opinion], Michelle was accompanied by her brother, Craig Robinson, and Brian Chesky, the co-founder and CEO of Airbnb. During the discussion, she seemed to express a personal interest in the tech executive.

“You know, I have to say, Brian, if I’m a single girl out there and I find out that Brian Chesky is single and I could like stay in his house -” she started, but was interrupted by Robinson.

“Here she goes, right to the relationship!” Robinson remarked, adding, “Brian, you don’t have to feel pressure.”

Chesky, however, engaged with the banter, stating, “Her and her husband have tried to set me up before.”

This prompted the former First Lady to declare that she was “very invested in Brian’s love life,” to which he responded that he “appreciated” it.

This peculiar exchange occurs amidst ongoing speculation about the condition of Michelle and Barack Obama’s marriage, which has been partly fueled by the former First Lady’s notable absence from both President Donald Trump’s inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter.

Further adding to the discussion, Barack Obama recently admitted that he is experiencing a “deep deficit with my wife” and has been making efforts to plan enjoyable activities for the two of them. Michelle has also publicly expressed her frustrations with her husband, mentioning his previous tendency to be late and his inclination to avoid significant conversations with his golf companions, as reported by DailyMail.com.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has since commented on these remarks, telling fellow podcaster Megyn Kelly that the former First Lady “really dislikes her husband and it’s super obvious.”

“I am not merely expressing this to be spiteful… I believe I am attempting to cultivate compassion for her, yet her animosity towards the man is astonishing,” he remarked.

The former Fox News personality subsequently asserted, “there is nothing more destabilizing than an unhappy marriage.”

Kelly, also a former Fox News figure, concurred with Carlson, adding that “everything Michelle articulates regarding her husband is negative.”

“I rarely express negative sentiments about Doug,” Kelly stated concerning her own spouse. “He is not flawless, but when I reflect on him, I do not instantly focus on the negatives. I concentrate on the positives and the qualities I cherish about him.”

Nevertheless, Michelle refuted allegations of marital discord during a recent podcast appearance hosted by entrepreneur and investor Steven Bartlett.

When Bartlett brought up the persistent rumors—specifically referencing her absence from Donald Trump’s inauguration, which some interpreted as indicative of a rift—he remarked that it intensified discussions of a potential separation, with some suggesting, “there is an issue between you and Barack, a divorce is imminent.”

“Allow me to clarify, he would be aware of it,” Michelle stated, gesturing towards her brother. “And everyone else would be aware of it too.”

“If I were experiencing difficulties with my husband, everyone would be informed,” she said with a chuckle.

Robinson quipped, “If they were encountering a problem, I would be hosting a podcast with him.”

Referring to Barack as her “person,” Michelle further remarked, “The strength of my husband and our partnership lies in the fact that neither of us has ever truly considered quitting, as that is not our nature. I am aware of this about him, and he is aware of this about me.”

Michelle also emphasized that many young individuals abandon marriage too hastily, partly due to being misled by an unrealistic portrayal of a perfect relationship between her and Barack.

“I discuss these matters because I believe that people relinquish their commitment to marriage too swiftly,” she stated.
